YOUTH TRANSITIONS
Regarding our Summer youth classes, activities, and Vacation Bible School, children will stay with their current grade or Sunday School classes until the beginning of August.
**Parents of current 5th graders are invited to attend the Youth/Parent meeting on Sunday, August 9th to learn more about fall activities with their child.
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL – Tropical Trek
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT & DONATIONS!! The total donations & offerings given for the VBS Mission project was: $4,127.12 and surpassed their $2,000 goal… HOW INCREDIBLE! Praise be to God for providing such generous hearts. Funds go to Mission Central which sends 100% of the money collected to Christ’s Care for Children in Kenya project. THANK YOU VBS VOLUNTEERS/HELPERS & PARTICIPANTS!!
Vacation Bible School was simply amazing!! We had 50 kids registered and over 40 volunteers! It takes a LOT of hands to create an incredible experience for these kids over the course of 5 days. THANK YOU!!! We had several guests/new participants this year and we trust that we’ve created opportunity to reach out into our local community with the Gospel message.
A special THANKS goes out to our decorating crew… Nancy Troester & Chandra Blase who put in COUNTLESS hours to create our TROPICAL TREK! Plus Kathy Gloystein & Melanie Klute who spent 6 plus months in the planning process that made VBS a blast. May God continue to nurture the seeds of faith that were planted in the hearts and minds of these young people. You can find some incredible video/pictures on Zion’s VBS Facebook page. JULY YOUTH STUFF…
ALL YOUTH (6-12th grade):
ZION YOUTH & PARENT MEETING
Save the date: Sunday, August 9th after 10:00am church service. This will be our planning meeting for parents and youth for fall activities.
YOUTH CANOE TRIP DOWN THE NIOBRARA- July 8-11, 2026 (Wed-Sat)
Please pray for the Zion youth and families that are headed north to the Niobrara River to have two days of fun on the river (canoe/kayak/tubing). We will be tent camping and cooking out over a fire! We will be joined by other Lutheran youth and families from KS, IA, and NE. We will travel on Wednesday, hit the river Thursday/Friday and travel home on Saturday. What a cool opportunity for fun and fellowship.
Middle School Stuff... (6-8th graders)
SUMMER STRETCH EVENTS – Wednesdays (June 17, July 15, August 5 & 7)
Middle school youth (6-8th graders) are invited to Zion for a day of volunteer work and also some fun and fellowship. We will meet at 8:00am and dismiss around 3pm. Three times this summer, we will do a different service project in local communities and then have some afternoon fun. Kids are encouraged to bring a friend and a snack to share. We need adult chaperones to make these events happen, please let Ben know if you can help.
· JUNE (DONE)- We heading to York… Working at the Pregnancy Center. Enjoyed some donuts and a trip to Lee’s Marble Museum. In the afternoon, we cooled off in the Henderson pool!
· JULY- We will be headed to Iowa to Mission Central with other folks from Zion. We will meet at Zion at 8am, eat lunch on the road (bring lunch money) and will return a bit later (5:30ish).
· AUGUST- We will help dish up ice cream for the Hampton Car show. Lunch provided, then a Fun activity!
High School Stuff... (9-12th graders)
HS KANSAS CITY SERVICE & FUN – SUMMER (TBD)
DCE Ben is looking to line up a High school youth trip to Kansas City to do a day of service at the Immanuel Community Outreach Association (ICOA), as we prepare and serve meals to folks in need along with some other smaller projects. Then the next day head to Worlds & Oceans of Fun for some sun & fun! More details to come.
